In 2001, Lighthouse Ministries opened the Jay and Eloise
Troxel Family Life Center for women and children. The
Troxel Family Life Center operates as a transitional
facility which assists victims of domestic violence,
homelessness, and destructive lifestyles.
When first entering the program, women stay in the
transitional dorm. After a two week period, they enter
into the first phase of the program and are moved into a
room. The program consists of four phases. Throughout
these phases women are involved in Bible studies, life
skills classes, parenting classes, budgeting, and work
internship.
Childcare is provided through our Lighthouse Community
Preschool. During school holidays, the children of the
Troxel Shelter enjoy special activities hosted by
volunteers.

Women & Children
Lighthouse takes a unique
holistic approach to meeting the needs of an
individual’s mind, body, and soul. We do this by
providing food, clothing, shelter, education, referral
services, on site job training, career advancement
training, counseling, case management, discipleship, and
structured classes in budgeting, parenting, and
spiritual growth all within one central location.
The Community Foundation
of Greater Lakeland helps make the case management
portion of One Stop Care available to those we serve.
